Job Description


• Undertake research and analysis tasks as assigned

• Monitor publicly available information sources and publications (newspapers, wire service reports, transcripts, press releases) on relevant economic and political issues for countries to which the High Commission is accredited in the Indian Ocean region.

• Prepare written reports on relevant economic and political issues in countries of accreditation

• Assist with the organisation and program preparation for official visits, both from Australia and by the Australian High Commission

• Assist with small aid projects in countries of responsibility, including making recommendations on projects

• Participate in public diplomacy initiatives for countries of responsibility

• Assist in the provision of consular support for countries of responsibility, in particular with contingency planning

• As directed, and with guidance as necessary, assist or represent the Australian High commission at relevant meetings, conferences and/or seminars

• Draft correspondence

• Interpretation and translation (French to English and English to French)



Note: The Australian High Commission in Port Louis has diplomatic accreditation to Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar and Comoros.
